Congratulations to our 2022 College Student Leadership Team on their 2022 student theme: Shine your light through our Kaleidoscope

Congratulations to our 2022 College Student Leadership Team on their 2022 Leadership theme:

Shine your light through our Kaleidoscope

Creating the theme

Chelsea: The process of creating the 2022 theme was a long and challenging one. We wanted to ensure that the theme's message explored the many aspects we wished to present.

Alessandra: While we were brainstorming, we wanted to express the idea about how individuals can work together to achieve a stronger community, to make a difference.

Zoe: An individual's importance was critical, highlighting the unique skills of each student in the community.

Lilly: We also wanted the theme to align well with the growth mindset. We want all girls to be adaptable, flexible and able to change in unpredictable moments.

Caitlin: We wanted to highlight how collaborating with others can allow us to reach our full potential and achieve new possibilities, to continue building our successful community.

Elena: As a Catholic school, we acknowledge that God is at the center of our lives and in all that we do. We wanted to incorporate His influence on us through this theme.

Senorina: Additionally, light has significance within our community, through the lantern of Nano Nagle, helping to guide us through our actions with the help of her Presentation Sisters.

Isabella C: We wanted to strive for our personal excellence; to think outside the box and enrich our College community.

And so to the theme

Emily: A kaleidoscope is made up of a variety of stained glass pieces of different colours and shapes. It is a changing mosaic of colour embodying all the unique students within our Domremy community

Isabelle: The word Kaleidoscope was created by a Scottish inventor combining three Ancient Greek words; the word means ’Observation of beautiful forms’. And that’s exactly what we want to see.

Veronica: Individuals taking actions within the community to make a difference, whether this be in social justice, humanities, public speaking, debating, music or drama.

Isabella P: We chose the words ‘your’ and ‘our,’ to express the relationship between the impact that one person can make on those around them.

Alice: The infinite patterns that a kaleidoscope has the ability to present, can only be seen clearly when light shines through it.

Olivia: Including light enabled us to incorporate the presence of God and Nano Nagle as key figures within our community, as they illuminate our path.

Mia: Through the simple movement of a kaleidoscope, the pattern inside changes to create something new. For some, change might seem like an obstacle, however, the kaleidoscope is a constant reminder that a small change can create something exciting and beautiful.

Mary: The shift in perspective that the changing patterns of the kaleidoscope presents us, teaches us to adapt to our ever changing environment. To view change as something positive, inspiring and motivating.

Erica: We hope to see all girls embrace this theme throughout the year and use it to help you grow as an individual, shining your light, your knowledge, your contribution to our community.
